New PKing system set up

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Alright guys…I got in a new Player Killing system!

If you have PKing status, when people attack you they don’t follow the normal PKing rules! That’s right, everybody can attack you! Even admins and people under level 10!

Also while you have PKing status you will gather up a killing record, which will be displayed to everybody (ie: “Giaken is on a killing spree! (3 kills)”).

Here’s a twist…you cannot lose your PK status to NPCs anymore! Only players!

Have fun :D

LIFE!

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Server is back up! Everything is back the way it was (still not perfectly stable at that lol)
we will be working on the error handler and pinpointing just what was wrong with the Winsock conversion and hopefully we can eliminate the old errors that we will still be having.

In other news, you’ll now notice a widget for our Teamspeak server on the left of your page here at HyruleOnline.net and I added the Online/Offline button to the forums now.

Happy gaming everyone!

Server Downtime

Monday, January 19th, 2009

For an unknown reason we have been seeing a dramatic spike in runtime errors and out of memory errors in the server. We attempted to change the server from IOCP, which causes the out of mem errors, to WINSOCK, but apparently that has caused some sort of unforseen and very elusive errors.
Suffice it to say that the server is absolutely not stable enough for anyone to play at the moment and I have taken it down for this evening at least.
We will have to wait until we can all get together and pour over the code to try and pinpoint this.
I hope and pray we can get it worked out by tomorrow night.
Your accounts and everything are all safe, don’t worry about that everybody.
We have been working nonstop on new maps and we have a HUGE event planned.
I encourage all of you to do homework, study, spend time with family, play a different game, or read a book. There IS more to life than Hyrule.

Newly redone Karamor’s Tavern

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

I bring you the newly redesigned….

You will find a strange new building as you are headed to the Temple of Time.

Karamor’s Tavern will be the new home for all events and hang outs. People are tired of Hyrule Market Bridge, it seems…anyways, when you come on, make sure you come and check it out! Feel free to grab the new Tavern Meat or some new Hylian Ale for good times!

Christmas Event…is over.

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

That’s right, fellow HO community members…the Hyrule Online Christmas Event is now over. However, the Fairy Ring is still very real, but you can only get it from other players now. Maybe this will help the economy a tad bit with a rare item out there for those that don’t have one?

Anyways, the Christmas Elf and the warp spot have been taken out.

This doesn’t mean there won’t be more events to come, oh no…there will be many more to come, some sooner than you might think!

Merry Christmas!

Thursday, December 25th, 2008

Well, I thought you guys deserved something for the holidays…so I threw together a small Christmas event! I hope you all enjoy the reward  ;) This event will end in a week or 2…so get the reward before it’s gone!

You will have to auto update to 1.6.5 if you haven’t already to participate in this event.

Merry Christmas from the Hyrule Online staff! We wish you happy times!

(and no, I am not gone…silly people…)

Apologies

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

It’s obvious that I (Mr. Goron) and some of the other programmers/mods haven’t been online. I would like to apologize for the lack of updates and activity. We’ve been hit by a heavy but not fatal dose of “irl”. Personally, I just need a break, in a week or even less I’ll be back to tackle some of the errors of Hyrule Online, I’ll also be hardcoding some of the scripted features, so some features will run quite a bit faster, along with the overall speed.

We look forward to pushing out some incredible updates in the future. – The Hyrule Online Staff

Oh and in case you don’t hear it from me or the other staff in time, have a wonderful Christmas.

Friday, December 19th, 2008

Here is the download link for 1.6.3 if anyone needs it.
I apologize for the disruption this has caused everyone
or try 1.6.3.rar
it is back in the download section now too and will be added to the autoupdater.

version downgrade

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

well this new update seems to be a big failure. There were too many bugs that we did not know about. Issues that affect access = 0 accounts and characters so we were caught with our pants down after we released.
Many of you are experiencing frequent Runtime Error 9′s. The server also is experiencing frequent RTE’s, although they are being caught, handled, and reported by the new error handler we implemented.
So tomorrow we are going to downgrade the server.
Back to 1.6.3 although this version of 1.6.3 will include chat macros.
we are going to have to start again from the 1.6.3 source and try to figure out where we went from.
So many things were changed in this release that we don’t know where we went wrong.
We are greatly rethinking our release habits and we will probably choose several members of the community to beta test our new releases for a few days before we releases before we releaes them.

For know i have put the 1.6.4 back up.
We are all very sorry for troubles and inconveniences caused by this.
