In-Game Code of Conduct/Rules

Welcome to Hyrule! You are about to enter a wonderful world, but just like the real world, there are a few rules and regulations you must follow.

Hyrule Online does have a 4 strike system.
Your first strike, you will be issued a warning.
Your second strike is a warning.
Your third strike you will be jailed for an amount of time depending on your offense.
Your fourth and final strike results in a ban.

In all cases, depending on the severity of your offense you may recieve one strike, more than one strike, or an immediate ban.

I will repeat this one more time right here, each mod is different and the severity of your offense will differ between mods. Each mod has the right to deal with a situation at their own discretion, within reason.
You MAY appeal a ban through PM’s.  Please PM the mod who banned you and at least 2 other mods regarding the situation.  Please try to explain in detail why you think you were banned and why you feel it is unfair or unjust.  If you wish to appeal a ban please note that you have to tell us why you think you should still be playing.

Please do not respond to a ban with public forum posts regarding your ban.  The best way to respond to a ban is to quietly wait it out unless you plan to appeal.

In most cases a ban is probably temporary, depending on the offence and your actions following.

Please remember that we do not want to give any of you strikes.

Section 1 – Regarding Accounts

Creation of usernames and/or accounts that contain profanities is prohibited and can/will earn you a permanent ban from hyrule online. Please refrain from using obscenities or offensive slang in your usernames.

Please use different passwords between accounts. Be very careful if you login or create a character on a game that a member of the hyrule community runs. Please try to use a different password so that your account will not be compromised.

Multiple Account logins is now prohibited. If you have multiple accounts, we would ask that you please move any items you wish to keep from the accounts and please delete them. With the recent addition of Banks to the game it is now unecessary to have multiple accounts to store items on.

If we feel you have multiple accounts online at one time we reserve the right to kick either one. Repeated offenses will result in strikes.

Since GM’s are unable to interact with most players on a pvp level, we reserve the right to have multiple logins so that we may moderate while interacting on the same level as the player. Note our powers as gm’s won’t be used to influence development of these extra characters.

Section 2 – Flaming, Spamming, Language

If someone is breaking a rule in this section, please let a Mod know immediately.  If you are able to supply a screenshot you may do so.  If not, please supply a description of what happened, what was said, and an estimated time.  If a mod is unable to help you immediately, we will try to get to you ASAP.  Please remember that some mods have access to chat logs so we are able to investigate these claims.

Everyone must inhabit the same world of Hyrule so it is important that we all are able to act maturely.
The following is banned from broadcast:
Promotion of your own games, Cursing, spamming, sex, drugs, abuse, harassment, hacking, cheating, glitching, piracy, racism, and other offensive talk.
When you are using map chat and private messages, be very careful of your surroundings. While those topics are not explicitly banned in map chat, if we get a report, we WILL deal with it. If we see it and we deem it to be offensive or over the top or out of line we WILL deal with it.

Section 3 – Glitching, Hacking

We all start out at the same level and it takes a lot of hard work for us to advance those levels. Play fair!

Glitching/hacking is not permitted ever.
Glitching/hacking is not tolerated ever.
It matters not who you are.
If someone is Glitching and claims to have permission that is false.
If someone is Glitching and claims a mod knows about it, that is also false.
If someone is Glitching and claims they are helping the mods/admin out, they are lying.
Any and all hacking and Glitching are strictly prohibited and WILL earn you a strike and can earn you a ban.
If you are caught with exorbitant amounts of rupees you could earn a strike.
If another player offers you unusually high amounts of rupees, please do not accept, as they are most likely hacked rupees and could earn you a strike.
Inquiring about glitches and how to perform them could get you suspended.

If you are found to have glitched items/rupees, you will be asked to drop them at once. Refusing to cooperate with a mod will earn you a strike.
Mages may have Mage sprites, Warriors may have Warrior sprites, if you are found to have glitched a sprite you should not have you will be made to change it and you will receive a strike.
Areas that are not open yet are not open for a reason, glitching into these areas will result in a strike.
Botting will result in an IP ban from hyrule online.
Use of 3rd party programs with Hyrule Online is prohibited unless the program has been approved by staff. Currently there are no approved 3rd party addons for Hyrule Online.

Section 4 – PvP, Party system, and Playing the game in general

Hyrule Online consists of an always on PVP system.  We have provided several maps in the game as safe maps for players to train on without the fear of being pk’d (player killed).  However, outside of these maps you are fair game for any player, no matter what your level is.  There are no rules regarding how many players you may kill in a certain amount of time or how many times you may kill the same player.

There are no rules prohibiting players from pking a mod, however if a mod somehow drops an item that is not released and demands it back, you must comply.

The party limit is 2 people per party as of 1-18-2009

Partying with a player when there is a 10 level difference or more is prohibited

Section 5 – Interaction with GM’s

Mods will not change your sprite for you, you must choose from the same sprites as anyone else. Mods are given the ability to have their own sprites changed so that they can be easily identified as a game moderator.

Please do not ask a mod to change your sprite or give you weapons/items or give you access to an area that is blocked off. Your answer will be a no. Asking again will result in an automatic strike. Offering to bribe a mod could result in an automatic strike.

Remember, WE don’t need your money.

Please do not interfere in a mod’s dealing with another player. If a mod is not addressing you directly and has an issue with another player, please stay out of the matter, interfering/interrupting, or harassing a mod while they attempt to resolve a situation could earn you a strike.

If action is taken against you, please do not use the forums to publicly complain or attempt to slander a mod. Please do not run to the forums to make accusations of abuse of power by the mods. We are the mods, we were given our authority by Admin himself, we did not choose ourselves, and we act on Admins behalf as best we can.
Mods are not above the rules, however they follow a different set of rules. They are closely monitored by Admin and Gunslinger and furthermore by each other. If your claims of power abuse are limited to cursing and other petty matters then please do not waste our time. If you have serious claims, please direct them towards Admin or Gunslinger.

We may, at our discretion, choose players to help us test new areas/monsters/items/maps, however we will not give them any items to keep that aren’t available to the rest of the players, and we will not give them permanent access to any of these areas or maps. When we are finished with them, they will be warped out of the area, and and all special items will be taken from them.
