GREAT NEWS!!!

February 9th, 2009

I am making this post because Monoxide of OGC is having an orgasm all over our source code right now and i think everyone will be very pleased with the performance gain. It’s currently 4:18 am and we are working feverishly to fix things, optimize, bugfix, reduce filesize, and add extra security. Almost every inch of code has been modified in some manner. If we can’t get it done within the next hour or so, i’ll have to go to work and he’ll have to go to school and we will get the update out later on this evening. Till then, make sure you’ve all studied for that test you may have coming up, or take some time to read a book. Might i suggest “Hearts in Atlantis” by Stephen King.
I will keep you all posted!

Password changes

February 8th, 2009

Everybody’s password is being changed to a randomly generated number or string, if you wish to know the password and change it, you must pm us from the forums and we will send you the new password.
you must ALL change your password on the forum now.
There are individuals who used to be staff members who had access to your accounts and they are giving away your account information to random people. It is very important that we change your passwords immediately.
We are very sorry for this inconvenience but we are working feverishly to keep your information safe and secure. Have no fear, everything is properly backed up.

New Drop System for deaths and pvp.

February 6th, 2009

Hey hey hey there everyone, you’re amazing admin had a brilliant idea to change the manner in which you drop items when you die.  Your speed stat will now play a key role in whether you drop an item or not.  You might drop all your equipped items, you might not drop any, and you will drop 5% of your rupees

to celebrate, here is admin playing guitar with shiroh and I also present and speaking in teamspeak, quality is a bit fuzzy, but that’s ok.

see, this is the kind of stuff you miss by not taking part in the Official HO teamspeak!

New PKing system set up

January 21st, 2009

Alright guys…I got in a new Player Killing system!

If you have PKing status, when people attack you they don’t follow the normal PKing rules! That’s right, everybody can attack you! Even admins and people under level 10!

Also while you have PKing status you will gather up a killing record, which will be displayed to everybody (ie: “Giaken is on a killing spree! (3 kills)”).

Here’s a twist…you cannot lose your PK status to NPCs anymore! Only players!

Have fun :D

LIFE!

January 19th, 2009

Server is back up! Everything is back the way it was (still not perfectly stable at that lol)
we will be working on the error handler and pinpointing just what was wrong with the Winsock conversion and hopefully we can eliminate the old errors that we will still be having.

In other news, you’ll now notice a widget for our Teamspeak server on the left of your page here at HyruleOnline.net and I added the Online/Offline button to the forums now.

Happy gaming everyone!

Server Downtime

January 19th, 2009

For an unknown reason we have been seeing a dramatic spike in runtime errors and out of memory errors in the server. We attempted to change the server from IOCP, which causes the out of mem errors, to WINSOCK, but apparently that has caused some sort of unforseen and very elusive errors.
Suffice it to say that the server is absolutely not stable enough for anyone to play at the moment and I have taken it down for this evening at least.
We will have to wait until we can all get together and pour over the code to try and pinpoint this.
I hope and pray we can get it worked out by tomorrow night.
Your accounts and everything are all safe, don’t worry about that everybody.
We have been working nonstop on new maps and we have a HUGE event planned.
I encourage all of you to do homework, study, spend time with family, play a different game, or read a book. There IS more to life than Hyrule.

– Your friendly neighborhood Gunslinger
